Lakhpur

Lakhpur has a population of 1,892 people (2001 Census). It is said that the village is named after Maa Lakhi who had three sons, whose descendants live in the village and share the Dhadwal surname. There are also numerous other families living in Lakhpur.

The approximate period when the village was settled is around 1550 to 1600 A.D. According to local tradition, Lakhpur was already an establised village at the time when Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was travelling from Kartarpur to Kiratpur Sahib, and visited Palahi (near Phagwara) in 1635, where he was involved in a battle against the Mughals led by Ahmad Khan.
